How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Tarpan.
2. When Tarpan dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Tarpan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Tarpan trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Cast Tarpan from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Gwenom.
6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns a humble centaur into an engine of endless power by setting up a closed-circuit library-to-graveyard pipeline. Ashnod's Altar provides the crucial sacrifice outlet that fuels the machine with colorless mana while sending Tarpan to the graveyard. There, Mortuary intercepts the creature and immediately tucks it back onto the top of your library, perfectly positioning it for Gwenom, Remorseless to peer into the future and allow you to recast it. Gwenom's replacement cost gracefully bypasses traditional mana payments by trading life instead, a cost that Tarpan's own death trigger instantly recoups, rendering the entire cycle completely self-sustaining.
