How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Willow Geist.
2. When Willow Geist dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Willow Geist from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Willow Geist trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Cast Willow Geist from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Gwenom.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Ashnod's Altar into a self-sustaining engine by feeding Gwenom, Remorseless's top-deck casting ability with a recurring sacrifice loop. Every time you sacrifice Willow Geist to the Altar, Mortuary immediately intercepts it from the graveyard and tucks it safely back onto the top of your library. From there, Gwenom lets you replay the Geist straight off the top for a mere 1 life instead of its mana cost, while Willow Geist's own death trigger conveniently gains you that life right back to keep the engine churning.
