How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the nontoken creature, adding CC.
2. When the creature dies, Mortuary triggers, putting the creature from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Cast the creature by paying its mana cost.
4. Repeat.

This infinite loop turns Ashnod's Altar into a self-sustaining mana and trigger engine by weaponizing Mortuary's graveyard-to-library replacement effect. Whenever you sacrifice a creature to the Altar for colorless mana, Mortuary catches it on the way to the graveyard and stacks it right back on top of your library. From there, The Lunar Whale steps in: because it attacked this turn, its static ability grants you continuous permission to look at and play the top card of your library, letting you recast that exact same creature immediately. By cycling the creature endlessly between the battlefield, the graveyard, your library, and your hand, you generate infinite sacrifices, deaths, and storm count alongside a limitless supply of colorless mana.
