How it works
Activate Agonasaur Rex's cycling ability by paying 2 and discarding it.
Agonasaur Rex triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Evolution Witness.
Evolution Witness triggers, returning Agonasaur Rex from your graveyard to your hand.
Insidious Roots triggers, creating a 0/1 Plant creature token, and then putting a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
Resolve the Agonasaur Rex ability from step 1, causing you to draw a card.
Activate the Plant by tapping it, adding .
Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the tapped Plant, adding CC.
Repeat.
This fascinating loop turns Agonasaur Rex into a recursive engine by cycling it to drop +1/+1 counters onto Evolution Witness, which in turn plucks the dinosaur right back out of your graveyard to hand. Because Agonasaur Rex leaving the graveyard triggers Insidious Roots, you continuously churn out 0/1 Plant tokens that can be tapped for mana and then sacrificed to Ashnod's Altar for the colorless energy needed to fund your next cycle. Meanwhile, Gimli's Reckless Might grants your team haste, though the true heavy lifting comes from the Plant tokens and the altar working in tandem to feed the continuous mana stream.
