How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Cayth.
2. When Cayth dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Cayth enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's passive ability to grant persist to your other nontoken creatures, setting up Cayth, Famed Mechanist to return from the graveyard whenever it hits the Ashnod's Altar. Each time Cayth enters the battlefield, its granted fabricate ability triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on it, which immediately neutralizes the -1/-1 counter it received from persist. With the counters continually canceling each other out, you can sacrifice Cayth to Ashnod's Altar over and over again to generate an endless supply of colorless mana. Meanwhile, the front face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn ensures your creature spells have convoke to help get your engine running smoothly.
