How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing a persist creature that doesn't have a -1/-1 counter on it.
2. When the creature dies, its persist ability and Long Feng trigger.
3. Resolve the Long Feng trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on the other persist creature.
4. Resolve the persist trigger, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Repeat.

This loop is a masterclass in turning a creature's demise into an engine, relying on a persist creature's ability to cheat death over and over again. By feeding that creature to Ashnod's Altar, you generate a steady stream of colorless mana while sending it to the graveyard, which in turn triggers Long Feng, Grand Secretariat. Long Feng's watchful eye catches the departure and places a +1/+1 counter onto another creature you control, setting up a system where your persistent threats can eventually cancel out their own negative counters or simply fuel an unstoppable chain of sacrifices, leaving you with infinite deaths and mana to seal your victory.
