This clever loop transforms Ashnod's Altar into a literal engine of eternal life and endless colorless mana by taking advantage of the static abilities of your board state. While Ashnod's Altar provides the sacrifice outlet and mana generation, the real magic happens because Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn) grants persist to your other nontoken creatures, allowing Selfless Police Captain to return from the graveyard whenever it dies. Furthermore, Selfless Police Captain's own enters-the-battlefield and leaves-the-battlefield mechanics interact smoothly with this cycle, enabling you to continuously sacrifice the Captain to generate infinite deaths, enters-the-battlefield triggers, and sacrifices without ever running out of fuel.
