How it works

  1. Activate Forgotten Cave's cycling ability by paying R mana and discarding it.
  2. Surly Badgersaur's second ability triggers, creating a Treasure artifact token.
  3. Resolve the Forgotten Cave ability, causing you to mill three cards and return Life from the Loam from your graveyard to your hand.
  4. Activate Land's Edge by discarding a land card.
  5. Surly Badgersaur's second ability triggers, creating a Treasure artifact token.
  6. Resolve the Land's Edge ability, dealing 2 damage to an opponent.
  7. Repeat from step 4 one additional time.
  8. Activate the three Treasure tokens by tapping and sacrificing them, adding 1R manaG mana.
  9. Cast Life from the Loam by paying 1G mana, returning Forgotten Cave and two other lands from your graveyard to your hand.
  10. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the self-replenishing engine of Life from the Loam into a lethal attrition weapon by cycling Forgotten Cave to kickstart your discards. Each discarded land doesn't just feed the grave; it triggers Surly Badgersaur to relentlessly churn out Treasure tokens while Land's Edge converts those very same land discards into direct damage to your opponents. Best of all, Life from the Loam's dredge mechanic lets you continuously replace standard draws to keep finding your pieces, while its regular casting recursion pulls your discarded lands right back to your hand to fuel the fire endlessly.
