How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Gravecrawler, adding .
2. When Gravecrawler dies, Bhaal triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Crystalline Crawler.
3. Activate Crystalline Crawler's first ability by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, adding .
4. Cast Gravecrawler from your graveyard by paying .
5. Repeat.

This loop sets up an infinite recycling engine by feeding Gravecrawler to Thermopod for red mana, which in turn fuels the black mana needed to recast it from the graveyard thanks to another Zombie. Meanwhile, Crystalline Crawler acts as a magical mana-filtering battery, converting the +1/+1 counters generated by Bhaal, Lord of Murder's death trigger into whatever color of mana you need. Bhaal also ensures your creatures stay aggressively pointed outward by goading targets along the way, while its own conditional indestructible ability provides a nice resilient bonus should your life total dip low enough.
