How it works
- Cast Squee from your graveyard by paying 1.
- Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Squee.
- When Squee is sacrificed, Szarel triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters equal to Szarel's power on Crystalline Crawler.
- Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
- Activate Crystalline Crawler three times by removing three +1/+1 counters from it, adding 1.
- Repeat.
This clever loop turns Crystalline Crawler into a self-sustaining mana battery, fueled by the relentless persistence of Squee, the Immortal as he returns from the graveyard again and again. Umbral Collar Zealot serves as the willing sacrifice outlet, which conveniently feeds Szarel, Genesis Shepherd's trigger every time Squee hits the dust. Because Szarel lets you play lands from your graveyard (while also pumping your team with counters), and Crystalline Crawler can strip those very counters away to generate the exact red mana needed to recast Squee, the entire engine runs in an infinite, self-contained loop.
