How it works

1. Activate Yahenni by sacrificing Kitchen Finks.
2. When Kitchen Finks dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Thran Vigil and Kitchen Finks trigger.
4. Resolve the Thran Vigil trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on Kitchen Finks.
5. Resolve the Kitchen Finks trigger, causing you to gain 2 life
6. Resolve the Yahenni ability
7. Repeat.

This loop relies on the clever interplay between Kitchen Finks and Thran Vigil to continuously reset a creature's counter state. When you sacrifice Kitchen Finks to Yahenni, Undying Partisan, the Finks triggers its persist ability to return to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. Crucially, as the Finks leaves the graveyard, it triggers Thran Vigil, which places a +1/+1 counter on the Finks; state-based actions then cause the +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters to annihilate each other, leaving the creature completely clean and ready to persist all over again.
