How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Kitchen Finks.
2. When Kitchen Finks dies, its persist ability triggers, returning Kitchen Finks from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Kitchen Finks enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing you to gain 2 life.
4. Spider-Man triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Kitchen Finks.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns simple life gain into an endless engine of sacrifice by playing upon the delicate math of counters. When you feed Kitchen Finks to Thermopod for red mana, its persist ability brings it right back with a -1/-1 counter, but the life gained from its entry triggers Spider-Man, Peter Parker to place a +1/+1 counter on it. Because the +1/+1 counter and the -1/-1 counter naturally annihilate each other as a state-based action, Kitchen Finks is left completely clear of counters and ready to persist all over again.
