How it works

  1. Cast Temporal Manipulation by paying 3U manaU mana, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
  2. Move to your next turn.
  3. Cast Chthonian Nightmare by paying 1B mana.
  4. When Chthonian Nightmare enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing you to get EEE.
  5. Activate Chthonian Nightmare by paying EEEE, sacrificing a creature with mana value 2 or less, and returning Chthonian Nightmare from the battlefield to your hand, returning Ardent Elementalist from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  6. When Ardent Elementalist enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Temporal Manipulation from your graveyard to your hand.
  7. Cast Chthonian Nightmare by paying 1B mana.
  8. When Chthonian Nightmare enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing you to get EEE.
  9. Activate Chthonian Nightmare by paying at most EE, sacrificing Ardent Elementalist, and returning Chthonian Nightmare from the battlefield to your hand, returning a creature with mana value 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  10. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on a self-sustaining cycle of recursion to take infinite turns, locking your opponents out of the game entirely. You start by casting Temporal Manipulation to buy yourself an extra turn, letting you set up the engine with Chthonian Nightmare. As Chthonian Nightmare enters the battlefield, its energy-generating trigger provides the fuel needed to sacrifice and resurrect creatures over and over. By bringing back Ardent Elementalist with the right amount of energy, you can pull Temporal Manipulation right back out of your graveyard to your hand, allowing you to cast the extra turn spell again.
