Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Hound of Griselbrand
When Hound of Griselbrand dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
Resolve both Altar of Dementia abilities from step 1 and 3.
Repeat.
This delightfully grim loop is made possible by Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the night-swapped face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—which grants persist to your other nontoken creatures, neatly complementing Hound of Griselbrand and its native undying ability. Whenever you feed Hound of Griselbrand to Altar of Dementia, the hound bounces back and forth between the battlefield and the graveyard: returning first with a +1/+1 counter from undying, then later with a -1/+1 counter from persist, as the two contrasting counters perpetually cancel each other out upon death. Because Altar of Dementia mills your opponents every time a creature is fed to it, this endless cycle turns the hound's immortal stubbornness into an infinite mill engine.
