How it works

1. Activate Mindless Automaton by removing two +1/+1 counters from it, causing you to draw a card.
2. Stark's Ingenuity triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Mindless Automaton due to Hardened Scales
3. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Mindless Automaton into a self-sustaining engine by turning card draw directly back into the fuel it needs. When you remove two +1/+1 counters from the Automaton to draw a card, Stark's Ingenuity triggers from that draw and places a counter on the enchanted creature. Because Hardened Scales replaces that single counter with two instead, the Automaton is immediately restored to its starting state of two counters, ready to draw another card and repeat the cycle indefinitely.
