How it works

1. Activate Orthion's first ability by paying 1 and tapping it, creating a token copy of Sprouting Thrinax with haste.
2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the Sprouting Thrinax token, adding .
3. When the Sprouting Thrinax token dies, it and Orthion trigger.
4. Resolve the Orthion trigger, untapping it.
5. Resolve the Sprouting Thrinax trigger, creating three 1/1 Saproling creature tokens.
6. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing a Saproling, adding 1.
7. Repeat.
8. Once you have infinite Saprolings, you may forego sacrificing the Sprouting Thrinax tokens.
9. You may also then use Orthion's second ability targeting any creature you control.

This brilliant loop centers on equipping Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink with Thornbite Staff, leveraging Orthion's Shaman subtype to auto-attach the artifact upon entry. By activating Orthion to copy Sprouting Thrinax and then feeding that token into Phyrexian Altar, the resulting death triggers both manufacture mana and use the Staff's passive untap ability to ready Orthion for the next iteration. The Saprolings left behind by Sprouting Thrinax provide the fodder needed to sustain the loop indefinitely, eventually letting you transition into Orthion's massive secondary ability to flood the board with five-fold copies of any creature you desire.
