How it works
Activate Orthion's first ability by paying 1 and tapping it, creating a token copy of Su-Chi Cave Guard with haste.
Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the Su-Chi Cave Guard token, adding .
When the Su-Chi Cave Guard token dies, it triggers, adding eight C.
Activate Orthion by paying 3 and untapping it, giving it +2/+2 until end of turn.
Repeat.
Optionally, if you have an additional available, you may use Orthion's second ability once you have a large amount of C to get infinite , which can then be used to activate Orthion infinitely targeting any other creature(s).
This loop relies on the clever synergy between Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink and Su-Chi Cave Guard, utilizing Umbral Mantle to fuel an endless sequence. By using Orthion's first ability to copy Su-Chi Cave Guard, you set up a tragic loop where sacrificing the token to Phyrexian Altar generates a red mana and triggers the cave guard's death ability, yielding a massive influx of colorless mana. You then channel that surplus into Umbral Mantle to untap Orthion with enough mana left over to repeat the process. With the engine fully self-sustaining, you can eventually transition into Orthion's massive second ability to multiply your board state exponentially and generate infinite colored mana.
