How it works

1. Cast Chain of Acid by paying 3, targeting an indestructible noncreature permanent you control.
2. Zaffai triggers, causing you to scry 1.
3. Resolve Chain of Acid, destroying nothing and causing you to copy Chain of Acid, targeting an indestructible noncreature permanent you control.
4. Repeat from step 2.

By targeting an indestructible noncreature permanent you control with Chain of Acid, you ensure that the permanent survives while still satisfying the spell's resolution requirement to trigger its self-copying loop. Each time that copy is created, Zaffai, Thunder Conductor leaps into action with its magecraft ability, turning every single iteration of the spell into a brand new scry trigger. Because Chain of Acid's mana value is 4, Zaffai's 5-mana and 10-mana thresholds remain out of reach, but the ability to filter your entire deck through infinite scries gives you total control over your draws.
