How it works

1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing it.
2. When Viscera Seer dies, Mortuary and Blood Artist trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Viscera Seer from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Blood Artist trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and target opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability.
6. Cast Viscera Seer from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns a modest vampire into an endless engine of life and death, fueled entirely by your own life total rather than mana. By letting you look at and cast spells from the top of your library, Bolas's Citadel enables you to continually recast the sacrificed creature, while Mortuary quietly catches it on its way to the graveyard and stacks it right back on top. Meanwhile, Viscera Seer provides the sacrificial outlet to start the cycle, and Blood Artist feeds on the endless procession of dying creatures to drain your opponents dry while padding your life total to pay for the Citadel's casting costs.
