How it works

1. Activate Myr Scrapling by sacrificing it.
2. When Myr Scrapling dies, Mortuary and Proper Burial trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Myr Scrapling from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Proper Burial trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Resolve the Myr Scrapling ability.
6. Cast Myr Scrapling from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious loop uses Bolas's Citadel to cast creatures straight from the top of your library by paying life instead of mana, turning your library into a recurring hand. When you sacrifice Myr Scrapling to its own ability, Mortuary immediately intercepts it on the way to the graveyard to place it right back on top of your library where Bolas's Citadel can see it again. Meanwhile, Proper Burial completely offsets the life cost of recasting the automaton by gaining you life equal to its toughness every time it dies. The result is a seamless engine that generates infinite death triggers, lifegain, and storm count without ever running out of fuel.
