How it works

1. Activate Goblin Firestarter by sacrificing it.
2. When Goblin Firestarter dies, Mortuary and Vengeful Bloodwitch trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Goblin Firestarter from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Vengeful Bloodwitch trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and target opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Resolve the Goblin Firestarter ability.
6. Cast Goblin Firestarter from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the humble Goblin Firestarter into a lethal recurring threat by turning the battlefield into a conveyor belt. Thanks to Bolas's Citadel, you can bypass mana entirely, casting the Firestarter directly from the top of your library for just a single point of life while keeping your entire engine visible. Every time the Firestarter is sacrificed to its own ability, Mortuary immediately catches it on its way to the graveyard and slides it right back to the very top of your library to do it all over again. Meanwhile, Vengeful Bloodwitch watches the procession and weaponizes every single death, draining your opponent's life total and padding your own to effortlessly offset the cost of the Citadel.
