How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Tarpan.
2. When Tarpan dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Tarpan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Tarpan trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
6. Cast Tarpan from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Bolas's Citadel.
7. Repeat.

This elegant little loop turns a humble 1-mana creature into an endless engine of life and growth by exploiting the top of your library as a hidden hand. You use Bartolomé del Presidio to devour Tarpan, whose own death trigger conveniently cushions the life-total cost of recasting it directly off the top of your deck via Bolas's Citadel. Meanwhile, Mortuary intercepts Tarpan the moment it hits the graveyard and effortlessly glues it right back onto the library so the Citadel can let you play it all over again.
