How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Haywire Mite.
2. When Haywire Mite dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Haywire Mite from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Haywire Mite trigger, causing you to gain 2 life
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
6. Cast Haywire Mite from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Bolas's Citadel.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop lets you grind through your entire deck by weaponizing Haywire Mite's tiny one-mana cost with Bolas's Citadel, which allows you to recast the insect directly from the top of your library for just 1 life. Every time you feed the creature to Altar of Dementia, Mortuary steps in to immediately catch it from the graveyard and slide it right back onto the library. Meanwhile, Haywire Mite's own death trigger offsets the life payment by netting you 2 life on each iteration, ensuring you never run out of health while milling your opponents out completely.
