How it works

1. Activate Blood Pet by sacrificing it.
2. When Blood Pet dies, Mortuary and Venerated Stormsinger trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Blood Pet from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Venerated Stormsinger trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and each opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Cast Blood Pet from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the top of your library into an endless recycling bin for your own creatures, fueled entirely by life rather than mana. Bolas's Citadel grants you the crucial ability to play spells directly from the top of your library by paying life instead of mana costs, which bypasses the need for traditional resources. You sacrifice Blood Pet for black mana, triggering Venerated Stormsinger's drain ability while Mortuary steps in to instantly place Blood Pet right back on top of your library. From there, you simply cast Blood Pet again off the top of the Citadel, paying a single life to restart the cycle and generating an infinite storm count, endless deaths, and limitless life drain.
