How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing a creature
2. When the creature dies, Mortuary triggers, putting the creature from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
4. Cast the creature from the top of your library by paying X life, where X is the creature's mana value.
5. Aetherflux Reservoir triggers, causing you to gain 1 life for each spell you've cast this turn.
6. Repeat.

This loop creates a self-sustaining engine right off the top of your library, fueled by Bolas's Citadel allowing you to pay life instead of mana to repeatedly recast whatever creature you just sacrificed. Altar of Dementia provides the sacrifice outlet that bins your creature to trigger Mortuary, which neatly recycles that same creature directly back to the top of your library to keep the cycle going. As you continuously churn through this loop, Aetherflux Reservoir effortlessly tracks your skyrocketing spell count, not only offsetting the life you spent to cast your creature with massive lifegain, but ultimately charging up enough energy to blast away any target for fifty damage.
