How it works

1. Activate Fanatical Firebrand by tapping and sacrificing it.
2. When Fanatical Firebrand dies, Mortuary and Carmen trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Fanatical Firebrand from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Carmen trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and put a +1/+1 counter on Carmen.
5. Resolve the Fanatical Firebrand ability.
6. Cast Fanatical Firebrand from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
7. Repeat.

This loop transforms the top of your library into an infinite-use armory by letting Fanatical Firebrand sacrifice itself to deal damage, only to be immediately redirected back where it started. As the goblin hits your graveyard, Mortuary quietly intercepts it to slide the card right back onto the top of your library, perfectly positioned for Bolas's Citadel to let you recast it simply by paying life instead of mana. Meanwhile, every single trip to the graveyard triggers Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher to steadily grow with +1/+1 counters and pad your life total to sustain the Citadel's health costs, turning a self-sacrificing drop into an endless engine of damage and growth.
