How it works

1. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing Tarpan.
2. When Tarpan dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Tarpan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Tarpan trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Resolve the Phantom Train ability.
6. Cast Tarpan from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Bolas's Citadel.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms a humble rat and a locomotive into an engine of endless iteration, fueled entirely by life rather than mana. With Bolas's Citadel granting you the ability to cast spells directly from the top of your library at the cost of your life total, Tarpan can be repeatedly sacrificed to Phantom Train to grow its power while triggering death effects. Whenever Tarpan hits the graveyard, Mortuary instantly redirects it back to the very top of your library, perfectly positioned for the Citadel to play it once more. Meanwhile, Tarpan's own death trigger cushions the life cost of casting it over and over, creating a self-sustaining loop that lets you rack up infinite sacrifices, triggers, and a massive vehicle without ever running out of fuel.
