How it works

1. Activate Marrow-Gnawer by tapping it and sacrificing another Rat.
2. When the Rat dies, Marrow-Gnawer triggers, untapping itself.
3. Resolve the Marrow-Gnawer ability from step 1, creating a number of 1/1 Rat creature tokens equal to the number of Rats you control.
4. Repeat.

By tapping Marrow-Gnawer to sacrifice one of its own squeaking minions to its activated ability, you flood the board with a fresh army of 1/1 black Rat creature tokens. Best of all, that single sacrifice immediately satisfies the Staff's dying-creature condition, springing Marrow-Gnawer right back upright so you can repeat the slaughter endlessly.
