How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Aphetto Vulture.
2. When Aphetto Vulture dies, its first ability and The Master trigger.
3. Resolve the Aphetto Vulture trigger, putting it from your graveyard on top of your library.
4. Resolve the Master trigger, untapping it.
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing you to mill Aphetto Vulture from your library.
6. Activate The Master by tapping it, putting Aphetto Vulture from your graveyard onto the battlefield.
7. Repeat.

This clever self-sustaining loop relies on the constant recycling and resurrection of Aphetto Vulture to mill out your opponents with Altar of Dementia. Whenever you sacrifice the Vulture to the Altar, its own death trigger puts it right back on top of your library so that The Master, Transcendent can immediately mill it back into the graveyard. The Master's tap ability then brings the Vulture straight back to the battlefield as a 3/3 green Mutant, ready to be sacrificed to the Altar all over again. While Thornbite Staff isn't strictly necessary for this specific core loop, it provides incredible backup and alternative winlines by granting your creatures the power to untap upon a death and ping targets into oblivion.
