How it works

  1. Activate Elvish Piper by paying G mana and tapping it, putting Michelangelo from your hand to the battlefield.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Michelangelo, adding G mana.
  3. When Michelangelo dies, it and Elvish Piper trigger.
  4. Resolve the Michelangelo trigger, returning it from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Resolve the Elvish Piper trigger, untapping it.
  6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on a clever creature-cheating engine to constantly recycle and sacrifice a resilient threat. By using Elvish Piper to slip Michelangelo, On the Scene straight from your hand onto the battlefield, you feed it directly into Phyrexian Altar to instantly convert the legend into the green mana required to fund the Piper's next activation. Because Michelangelo conveniently returns itself straight to your hand whenever it dies, the cycle is entirely self-sustaining. While this particular sequence produces endless death and sacrifice triggers, it's worth noting that if you managed to weave in an artifact like Thornbite Staff, its automatic untap and ping capabilities would find plenty of work alongside these repeating triggers.
