How it works

1. During your precombat main phase, activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the additional nontoken green creature, adding one mana of any color.
2. When the creature dies, Verdant Succession and Hua Tuo trigger.
3. Holding priority, activate Hua Tuo by tapping it, putting the creature from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Hua Tuo trigger from step 2, untapping it.
5. Resolve the Verdant Succession trigger, searching your library for the sacrificed creature and putting it onto the battlefield.
6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on a clever marriage of recursive library manipulation and sacrifice mechanics to achieve infinite colored mana and endless creature triggers. By equipping Thornbite Staff to Hua Tuo, Honored Physician, you gain both a ranged damage outlet and—crucially—the vital static trigger that untaps Hua Tuo whenever any creature dies. When you sacrifice a green creature to Phyrexian Altar, Verdant Succession and the staff both trigger off its death, allowing Hua Tuo to tap and place that fallen creature right back onto the top of your library. As Verdant Succession then searches your library to immediately slide that exact same creature back onto the battlefield, Thornbite Staff’s untap ability resets Hua Tuo, readying the physician for the next iteration.
