How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing any other creature with power 1 or greater.
2. When the creature dies, Mortuary and The Master trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting the creature from your graveyard on top of your library.
4. Resolve the Master trigger, untapping it.
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing you to mill the creature from your library.
6. Activate The Master by tapping it, putting the creature from your graveyard onto the battlefield.
7. Repeat.

This clever self-sustaining loop relies on a clever interplay of graveyard sorting and recursive reanimation to turn a single creature into an endless engine. By equipping Thornbite Staff to The Master, Transcendent, you grant it the ability to untap whenever any creature bites the dust—a key passive safety valve that keeps the loop moving. When you feed a creature to Altar of Dementia, Mortuary steps in to instantly rescue that fallen card from the graveyard and place it right back onto your library. From there, The Master, Transcendent steps up to tap, pluck that freshly milled card straight out of the graveyard, and return it to the battlefield, ready to be sacrificed all over again in an endless loop of life, death, and milling.
