How it works

1. Cast Belonging by paying 5.
2. When Belonging enters, it triggers, creating three 1/1 Shapeshifter creature tokens with changeling.
3. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Belonging.
4. When Belonging dies, Rat King triggers, untapping Rat King.
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
6. Activate Rat King by tapping it and sacrificing the Shapeshifters.
7. When the Shapeshifters die, Rat King triggers three times, untapping Rat King.
8. Resolve the Rat King ability from step 5, returning Belonging from your graveyard to the battlefield.
9. Repeat from step 2.

This loop turns Belonging and Rat King, Verminister into a self-sustaining engine by leveraging the changelings' innate creature types. When you cast Belonging, its entry triggers the creation of three Shapeshifter tokens that possess every creature type, naturally satisfying Rat King's Shaman requirement. You then feed Belonging to Altar of Dementia to fuel the mill engine and send it to the graveyard. This departure immediately triggers Rat King's ability to sacrifice three Rats and resurrect Belonging right back to the battlefield, restarting the cycle with the help of Altar of Dementia. While Thornbite Staff isn't strictly necessary for the core loop, its presence in the arsenal highlights the kind of artifact-based synergy that can complement this crew.
