How it works

1. Activate Xu-Ifit by tapping it, returning a creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
2. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing the creature returned in step 1.
3. When the creature dies, Xu-Ifit triggers, untapping itself.
4. Resolve the Phantom Train ability.
5. Repeat.

This engine relies on Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist to endlessly recur a creature from your graveyard with its tap ability, turning it into a powerless Skeleton. Phantom Train provides the necessary outlet by letting you sacrifice that returned creature to put a +1/+1 counter on itself and temporarily turn the Train into a Spirit artifact creature. Crucially, Thornbite Staff is the mechanical linchpin that closes the loop; because Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist is a Shaman, the Staff automatically equips to it and grants a triggered ability that untaps the equipped creature whenever *any* creature dies. Every time you sacrifice the creature to Phantom Train, its death untaps Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist so you can repeat the process indefinitely for infinite sacrifices, triggers, and growth.
