How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Clever Impersonator.
2. Hapatra triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Clever Impersonator by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Hapatra triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on a copy of Grim Poppet—impersonated by Clever Impersonator—to bounce counters back and forth with the original Grim Poppet without ever running out of fuel. Each time you strip a -1/-1 counter from one of the Poppets to place it on the other, Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons watches the counters land and rewards you with a steady stream of 1/1 green Snake creature tokens with deathtouch. Because both Grim Poppet and Clever Impersonator can alternately target each other and pass the counter right back, you can repeat this ping-pong indefinitely to generate as many creature enters-the-battlefield triggers and Snake tokens as your heart desires.
