Infinite +1/+1 counters on a creatureInfinite magecraft triggers

How it works

  1. Cast any sorcery by paying its mana cost.
  2. Holding priority, cast Increasing Vengeance by paying its mana cost.
  3. Kalamax's first and second abilities trigger.
  4. Resolve the first ability, creating a copy of Increasing Vengeance and choosing to copy the original Increasing Vengeance.
  5. Resolve the second ability, putting a +1/+1 counter on Kalamax.
  6. Resolve the Increasing Vengeance copy, creating a copy of Increasing Vengeance.
  7. Kalamax's second ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on itself.
  8. Repeat from step 6 any number of times.

This loop hinges on a clever interaction between your first spell of the turn and the recursive potential of Increasing Vengeance. By casting a sorcery and immediately following it with Increasing Vengeance, you trigger Kalamax, the Stormsire to copy that initial instant. Because Kalamax is tapped, that first copy targets the original Increasing Vengeance itself, which in turn lets you generate endless further copies of the spell. Every iteration feeds back into Kalamax's second ability, stacking an infinite number of +1/+1 counters onto Kalamax, the Stormsire while simultaneously triggering any magecraft effects you might have in play.
