How it works

1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Safehold Elite
2. When Safehold Elite dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Safehold Elite enters, Stalwart Successor triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Safehold Elite
4. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability.
5. Repeat.

This elegant loop relies on Safehold Elite's persist ability to bring it back from the graveyard, which naturally introduces a -1/+1 counter dilemma that Stalwart Successor cleverly solves. Whenever Safehold Elite returns with a -1/-1 counter, Stalwart Successor's triggered ability steps in as the first counter placement of the turn to grant a +1/+1 counter, which instantly and permanently annihilates the -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. With the slate wiped clean each time, Viscera Seer provides the willing sacrifice outlet to send Safehold Elite back to the graveyard, letting you repeat the whole cycle indefinitely to fuel an endless stream of deaths and scries.
