How it works

1. Activate Kumena's first ability by tapping another nontoken Merfolk you control.
2. Deeproot Pilgrimage triggers, creating a 1/1 Merfolk creature token.
3. Resolve the Kumena ability.
4. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing the Merfolk token.
5. When the Merfolk dies, Faces of the Past triggers, untapping all Merfolk.
6. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the Merfolk tribe into a self-sustaining engine, using Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca to tap down your nontoken Merfolk for unblockable status while Deeproot Pilgrimage immediately replaces them with fresh 1/1 hexproof tokens. Every time one of those tokens is sacrificed to Viscera Seer to scry your deck, Faces of the Past triggers upon its death to untap all creatures sharing the Merfolk type. This untap effect resets your board entirely, allowing you to tap your creatures over and over again to draw your entire deck, grow your whole army with infinite +1/+1 counters, and flood the board with endless tokens.
