How it works

1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Grazing Kelpie.
2. When Grazing Kelpie dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Hardened Academic triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Grazing Kelpie.
4. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop centers around Grazing Kelpie and its persist ability, which normally would exhaust itself after a single resurrection due to the -1/-1 counter it accumulates. However, whenever Grazing Kelpie leaves your graveyard, Hardened Academic triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on a creature you control, which immediately cancels out the persist penalty when applied to the Kelpie. By using Viscera Seer to sacrifice the Kelpie, you not only trigger the infinite sacrifice and death loops needed to fuel your strategy, but you also get to continuously scry through your library while keeping your creature permanently revitalized on the battlefield.
