How it works

1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing the creature with persist.
2. The persist ability triggers, returning that creature to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it, as well as a +1/+1 counter due to Gev.
3. The +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on that creature are removed as a state-based action.
4. Resolve the ability from step 1, scrying 1.
5. Repeat.

By combining Viscera Seer with any creature possessing the persist mechanic, you create a seamless loop where life lost earlier in the turn ensures Gev, Scaled Scorch is there to buff the returning creature. As the persist creature enters the battlefield, Gev, Scaled Scorch's static ability applies an extra +1/+1 counter that instantly neutralizes the creature's incoming -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This counter-cancellation resets the creature completely, allowing Viscera Seer to sacrifice it over and over again to dig endlessly through your library while churning out an infinite stream of sacrifice and death triggers.
