How it works

1. Whenever damage would be dealt to you or a permanent you control, activate Barrenton Medic's first ability by tapping it, preventing the next 1 damage dealt to that target.
2. Activate Barrenton Medic's second ability by putting a -1/-1 counter on it, untapping it.
3. Repeat as necessary.

By enchanting Barrenton Medic with Swift Reconfiguration, we strip away its creature type while it remains a noncreature artifact, cleverly bypassing the state-based actions that would normally destroy a creature with toughness reduced to zero by -1/-1 counters. This lets you endlessly tap the Medic to prevent damage and place a counter to untap itself without ever dying. The resulting loop creates an unbreakable defensive lock that completely shields you and your permanents from all incoming damage.
