How it works

1. Cast Grinning Ignus by paying 2.
2. Merrow Reejerey triggers, untapping Twinning Glass.
3. Activate Grinning Ignus by paying and returning it to your hand from the battlefield, adding CC.
4. Activate Twinning Glass by paying 1 and tapping it, causing you to cast Grinning Ignus without paying its mana cost.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop transforms Grinning Ignus into a self-sustaining mana generator by utilizing a clever overlap of shared creature types. Because Rukarumel, Biologist redefines every nontoken creature and creature card as your chosen type—in this case, making Grinning Ignus and Merrow Reejerey count as Merfolk—every time you recast the Ignus, Merrow Reejerey triggers to untap Twinning Glass. This lets Twinning Glass bypass the normal mana cost to cast Grinning Ignus again, while the Ignus itself yields a net profit of colorless mana each time it bounces back to your hand.
