Because you intentionally choose a massive number during Wheel of Misfortune's secret auction—ensuring you take the highest tally—the resulting mountain of damage is intercepted by Pariah before it ever touches your life total. Mogg Maniac eagerly soaks up this massive blow and its triggered ability activates, reflecting that exact same astronomical amount of damage directly at your chosen opponent.
