How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing a nontoken Egg or a nontoken creature with changeling.
2. When the creature dies, Atla Palani and Mortuary trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting the creature on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Atla Palani trigger, revealing the creature from the top of your library and then putting it onto the battlefield.
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability from step 1, causing target player to mill cards equal to the creature's power.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Atla Palani, Nest Tender into a closed-loop engine by utilizing Mortuary's ability to seamlessly intercept your creatures as they hit the graveyard. When you sacrifice a suitable creature using Altar of Dementia, Mortuary places it right back on top of your library so that Atla Palani, Nest Tender can immediately cheat it back onto the battlefield when the egg or changeling triggers her ability. Because Altar of Dementia mills your opponent based on the sacrificed creature's power each iteration, this seamless cycle grinds through their library entirely while generating endless triggers.
