How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Restless Apparition.
2. When Restless Apparition dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Thran Vigil triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Restless Apparition.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
5. Repeat.

This loop transforms the endless cycle of life and death into an unstoppable engine, fueled by Shilgengar, Sire of Famine turning each sacrifice into a bounty of Blood tokens. Because Restless Apparition keeps returning to the battlefield via persist with a -1/-1 counter, Thran Vigil steps in to immediately neutralize that counter by placing a +1/+1 counter on it whenever it leaves the graveyard during your turn. This counter-cancellation ensures that Restless Apparition can be repeatedly sacrificed to Shilgengar without ever permanently staying in the graveyard, generating an infinite supply of Blood tokens, death triggers, and enters-the-battlefield value.
