How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Restless Apparition.
2. When Restless Apparition dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Vizier of Remedies.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the cycle of life and death into a perpetual mana engine by exploiting a clever rules interaction with persist. When you sacrifice Restless Apparition to Ashnod's Altar, its persist ability triggers to bring it back from the graveyard, but Vizier of Remedies steps in to intercept the -1/-1 counter, reducing the number placed to zero. Because Restless Apparition returns completely clean of counters, it is immediately ready to be sacrificed to the Altar all over again, generating an endless supply of colorless mana alongside infinite death and entry triggers.
