How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Restless Apparition.
2. When Restless Apparition dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Vizier of Remedies.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the interaction between Restless Apparition and Vizier of Remedies to completely negate the downside of persist. Normally, persist would place a -1/-1 counter on Restless Apparition when it returns, stopping the ability from triggering a second time, but Vizier of Remedies steps in to reduce that counter placement to zero. By feeding the resulting creature directly into Phyrexian Altar, you can sacrifice Restless Apparition to generate a mana of any color and instantly trigger its return, creating an endless cycle that yields infinite mana, sacrifices, and deaths.
