How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Seraph of the Scales, adding CC.
2. When Seraph of the Scales dies, it and Nim Deathmantle trigger,
3. Resolve the Seraph of the Scales trigger, creating two creature tokens.
4. Holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing a creature token, adding CC.
5. Resolve the Nim Deathmantle trigger, causing you to pay 4 to return Seraph of the Scales from your graveyard to the battlefield and attach Nim Deathmantle to it.
6. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns the cycle of life and undeath into a perpetual engine by pairing the sacrifice outlet of Ashnod's Altar with the resurrection trigger of Nim Deathmantle. When you sacrifice Seraph of the Scales to the Altar, its afterlife ability floods the board with two Spirit tokens while Nim Deathmantle waits in the wings to reanimate the Seraph itself for the exact cost of four mana. By utilizing one of the freshly spawned tokens to pay the final two mana needed for the Deathmantle's revival, the Altar and the Deathmantle effortlessly sustain the loop, leaving you with an endless surplus of colorless mana, sacrifices, and tokens.
