How it works

1. If Runaway Steam-Kin has three or more +1/+1 counters on it, activate it by removing three +1/+1 counters from it, adding .
2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Squee and Skyfire Phoenix, adding .
3. Cast Squee from your graveyard by paying .
4. Skyfire Phoenix and Runaway Steam-Kin trigger.
5. Resolve the Skyfire Phoenix trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
6. Resolve the Runaway Steam-Kin trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
7. Repeat.

This loop thrives on an engine where casting your commander continuously refunds and scales your resources. With Phyrexian Altar providing the sacrifice outlet to bin Squee, the Immortal and Skyfire Phoenix while generating initial mana, Squee's ability to be repeatedly cast straight from the graveyard fuels the combo's momentum. Every time you cast Squee, it triggers Runaway Steam-Kin to grow and fuel your mana pool, while simultaneously pulling Skyfire Phoenix straight back from the graveyard to the battlefield.
