How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Safehold Elite
2. When Safehold Elite dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Safehold Elite enters, Stalwart Successor triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Safehold Elite
4. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever sacrifice loop transforms Safehold Elite into an infinite engine by exploiting the interaction between its persist mechanic and Stalwart Successor. Whenever Safehold Elite returns to the battlefield with a -1/+1 counter, Stalwart Successor's triggered ability steps in as the first time counters are placed on it that turn, slapping a +1/+1 counter on it that immediately neutralizes the -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This leaves Safehold Elite clean and ready to be sacrificed to Carrion Feeder all over again, fueling an endless cascade of deaths, sacrifice triggers, and creature entries while growing your board infinitely.
